Danny's red collar will soon be a red STRANGLE MARK, and finds it's double in a red car on the shelf above the toilet. Jack stares Danny down and seems to dangle him above the bathroom and the toilet, a site of bodily guilt and disgust. The bathroom signifies gross materiality (Jack encounters the hag in the bathroom of room 237), the compulsive fated horror of the past (Jack encounters the previous caretaker Grady in the Gold Room bathroom), and the violence lurking beneath polite family life (Jack attacks wendy and Danny in this bathroom). It's significance is as the gross secret (excrement) that underlies polite civility.
